Power of Attorney

What is a Power of Attorney?

It is a legal document in which you (the “Principal”) name another person (the “Agent”) to act on your behalf for personal financial decisions, if you cannot, usually due to health reasons.

Why do I need a Power of Attorney?

If necessary, your Agent can step in to handle your banking, paying your bills, filing tax returns, etc. A Power of Attorney goes away when the Principal dies. It cannot be used after death.
